Final photo from James, taken late 2011. Looks as if a few of the flat liner rocks are still lying around, but otherwise no trace of the sofa.
This is how it looked the day I built it.
A stone sofa on an obscure beach in South Devon, England, built by Ben Altman in early August 2011. The rough stone is from a nearby rock slide, the lining is sea-smoothed slate from the beach. It is a sculpture and a place of relaxation: to be used/added to/modified by those who find it. A sign invites users to send in photographs and writing about their uses/modifications. I'm not naming the location; I'd prefer people to just find it. Please respect this if commenting. Information at right.
